The Washington Court on Capitol Hill, October 24 - 27, 1991åÊ

From the Introduction by Charles Lee

"In the eyes of many people, both person of color and whites, the environmental movement in the United States changed forever on October 24 - 27, 1991. These were the dates of the First National People of Color Environmental Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C., convened by the United Church of Christ Commission for Racial Justice. More than 600 persons from virtually every state in the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska, Canada, Central America, Puerto Rico, and the Marshall Islands fathered for the first time in a dramatic display of environmental and social justice activism in people of color communities."
