Where and How the Art Was Made
Designed by the Rev. Brenda Grauer of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, designer of each General Synod stole and parament since 1995. Grauer collaborated with Ghost Ranch and with Espanola Valley Fiber Arts Center (EVFAC), a local not-for-profit that cultivates creative participation in and economic support of local New Mexican fiber arts with the largely native and Spanish peoples of the area. Together they founded an apprenticeship program where local women learn to tell visual stories using sewing machine art, practice production sewing techniques to open job opportunities, and learn entrepreneurial skills to help them vision and found their own small businesses.
