In this edition, Richard Rohr explores five topics central to Franciscan theology and practice:

  • Atonement Theory
  • Eco-Spirituality
  • The Christ who Existed before Christianity
  • Orthopraxy vs. Verbal Orthodoxy (Living Like Jesus)
  • Mysticism over Moralism

Each of the "Embracing" units begins with a five DVD session video, a 10-15 minute presentation by Tim Scorer followed by filmed interaction with a diverse small group of adults. The Participant's Workbook then helps your own local small group "join the conversation." It includes all study materials need by participants and those who lead. Each participant will need one copy. The Embracing Series is ideal for adult and young-adult small groups, Christian educators, clergy, chaplains and campus ministries.

Richard Rohr, OFM, is a globally recognized ecumenical teacher bearing witness to the universal awakening within Christian mysticism and the Perennial Tradition. He is a Franciscan priest of the New Mexico Province and founder of the Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Fr. Richard's teaching is grounded in the Franciscan alternative orthodoxy - practices of contemplation and lived kenosis (self-emptying), expressing itself in radical compassion, particularly for the socially marginalized. He's the author of numerous books, including Eager to Love: The Alternative Way of Francis of Assisi.
