Communion Set - General Synod 31
This is a replica of the communion set used for worship at General Synod 31 in Baltimore, 2017. Now available to order from UCC Resources.
Sculpted in clay by a Baltimore-area artist and pastor, this communion set consists of a plate and a "Bent Chalice" (see photo). The unique chalice design was inspired by the following quote: "I have been served communion most of life from a perfectly shaped and molded silver chalice. To imagine both serving communion, and receiving communion from a crooked chalice is an absolute affirmation of my limited, imperfect—utterly human—life." This excerpt is from Chris Smith, professor at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, who was quoting her partner in ARTS Journal.
Chalice is 6.5" at highest point. Plate is 8" in diameter.
About the artist
