Caring For Ourselves: While Caring For Our Elders shares the true stories of family members who are caring for elderly loved ones.
It gives an overview of some of the psychological issues involved in contemporary elder care, approaches some overarching biblical themes, and is fleshed out with 25 brief yet edifying chapters that tell the stories of some remarkably honest people who are caring for elderly loved ones.
Each story is paired with a passage from Scripture that shares some key points of resemblance, and is accompanied by a short psychological commentary on each situation, some biblical background for the text, and questions for discussion or reflection.
An "assignment" is given for each chapter, in the form of a brief activity for the week, a light and non-verbal way to integrate one or more of the issues in the contemporary story or the biblical story. Each chapter concludes with a prayer for those who share some aspect of this situation.
