The Good Book Cookbook presents an authentic and flavorful cuisine that spans 3,000 years of biblical & culinary history.
The recipes in The Good Book Cookbook use only indigenous foods available during biblical times, and all ingredients can be found in local supermarkets or health food stores. The biblical diet was made up of only unprocessed, natural foods. Honey & fruit syrups were traditional sweeteners, and meals included whole grains, beans, fruits & vegetables - high in fiber and low in saturated fats. Biblical passages accompany recipes. Chapters are divided into traditional categories such as meat, poultry, fish, dairy and desserts. Handy biblical and historical references to the ingredients and recipes - as well as beautiful, full-color photgraphs - are featured throughout the book. There is a chapter on biblical nutrition, plus a special section using the recipes as teaching tools for Sunday school and Bible study classes.
